What grows together, goes together - A Spanish love story

Albarino 4.png

When we go into a wine store or supermarket to pick up a bottle of wine for pairing with seafood, we are usually pointed to the corner of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, Italian Pinot Grigio or French Chablis.

However, there is another rule of food pairing, “what grows together, goes together”. If the grapes grow in certain regions and climates, they go well with food and ingredients raised and produced in a similar environment. This formula applies to Spanish Albariño and seafood.

Albariño (pronounced as al-bar-EEN-yo) is from the Rías Baixas region of Galicia, a popular destination by the sea in Spain. It is a fresh white wine, light and easy to drink, with the right acidity and crispness. It goes very nicely with sushi, Pacific salmon tartare or lightly seared tuna.

It is not easy to find Albariño in a restaurant in Hong Kong, but you can easily find it at COCOBOP. Tan Sim-ple!
